NIRDA Open Calls for Business Interventions and Innovations in the Stone, Piggery, Poultry and Animal Feeds Value Chain

On the 5th of November, 2020, the National Industrial Research and Development Agency (NIRDA) launched its annual Open Calls Program to support businesses to address technological and technical barriers to business growth and competitiveness. The Program strives to help Rwandan enterprises to improve their productive capacities to produce quality products for both domestic and international markets. The Program for 2020-2021 will specifically target firm-level business interventions and innovations involved in the stone value chain, piggery, poultry, and animal feeds value chains.

Selected applicants will receive support in acquiring, adapting and making better use of equipment, tools, and software in their businesses in the form of a credit facility at a 0% interest rate with no fees or collateral required, access to free business advisory services, and access to technical support and training of staff to operate new equipment in order to improve quality and value of products.

Interested parties must be registered with the Rwanda Development Board (RDB) or the Rwanda Cooperative Agency (RCA) and must have been operational in the four mentioned business interventions for at least four years in the case of the stone value chain, at least two years for the poultry and piggery value chain, and at least one year for the animal feeds value chain.

The application process will involve two competitive selection processes. The first step is to fill out an application form. Once the application form is approved, applicants will be invited to submit a full project application. The deadline for applications is 30th November 2020.
